FlexChem – Flexible processes in the chemical industry

Process Industry 4.0: Vertical integration to make chemical production more flexible

Within the framework of the project “FlexChem“, the chemical production processes operated at a constant load should become more dynamic, so that in particular electricity consumers such as electric motors (for driving pumps, blowers or agitators) or electric heaters can be operated more flexibly without having a strong impact on the chemical production process. These electrical plant components should be operated in the future in such a way that they are adapted to the electricity supply through the methodology of vertical integration to be developed in the project. On the one hand, the competiveness of the chemical industry in Saxony‑Anhalt should be increased and on the other hand, the results should contribute to ensuring grid stability even if renewable energies are expanded.
