Materials for the medical sector

In addition to classic additive manufacturing processes that use metals or plastics as printing material, the use of biogenic raw materials has established itself as a new branch in recent years. The pioneer here was medical research, including the production of scaffolds for cell-based applications.

Parallel to this, other non-medical applications have been developed with biogenic printing materials for additive manufacturing. We show examples for the use in cell-based applications, e.g. the use of biogenic raw materials such as collagen, gelatine, chitosan or similar.
