makeMINTcool in der Clusterregion Stuttgart

This project application was submitted as part of efforts undertaken by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) to promote regional clusters for educating young people in STEM subjects (known as MINT in German). The BMBF is seeking to support the development and expansion of regional cluster structures for educating young people in STEM.

In addition to establishing a regional STEM cluster in the Stuttgart region, a key goal of the application is to launch a visual campaign to generate interest in STEM topics and to motivate, in particular, children and young people who are distanced from STEM topics to take part in STEM activities organized by us. To this end, the cluster provides a network for stakeholders who work with children and young people, as well as the existing MINTregion Böblingen network, research units and universities of applied sciences in the region.

You can find information on everything offered by the STEM cluster here (only in German).

The High-Performance Center Mass Personalization (LZMP) — represented in the cluster by Fraunhofer IGB — will develop and implement STEM formats in the cluster that will use future-oriented and high‑tech issues to generate enthusiasm for natural sciences and technology. Its goal is to design and adapt formats from a methodological and didactic perspective to suit different target groups who are interested in STEM, as well as young people who are distanced from STEM. There will also be a focus on providing opportunities for girls. As a result, the main topic of the High-Performance Center — personalization — will also be implemented in the way in which the cluster’s offerings address its target groups and how they are designed, all with a focus on needs.
