Light4CleanWater

Novel system for converting harmful substances in wastewater into non-toxic, biodegradable substances using multichromatic UV light

The technology concept of Light4CleanWater was the development of an industrial wastewater treatment system for the degradation of complex organic impurities with multichromatic UV light in an advanced oxidation process without the addition of chemicals. The approach was already proposed and demonstrated in basic research. In the project, a system was developed that can purify polluted water streams in a cost-effective and safe way, converting the toxins into non-toxic, biodegradable substances. The advanced oxidation process is based on multichromatic UV light and does not form toxic by-products.
