MircroDry

"Microwave drying for the rapid remediation of flooded buildings"

The development of a microwave technology which will reduce drying times in buildings after flooding events. A single MicroDry unit will run off mains electricity and be capable of drying a room in just 10 % of the time taken by current technologies. The consortium will develop an intelligent control system that will measure the reflected microwaves to determine residual moisture content and adjust the power output accordingly to maximise efficiency. The MicroDry system will require no human intervention and will communicate to an end user when the drying process is finished.

Project information

Project title

MircroDry – An automated, intelligent microwave system that will safely dry a building in a fraction of the existing time. Powered from a domestic power supply, this device will selectively heat the moisture contained within a structure without detriment to the building material, leading to rapid evaporation and drying
