Beck, Alexander

Industrial Biotechnology | Bioprocess Engineering

Alexander Beck studied Life Science Engineering at the Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen-Nürnberg where he graduated with a Master of Science in 2016.

In January 2017, he joined Fraunhofer IGB as a PhD candidate from the University of Stuttgart and has since been working in the innovation field Industrial Biotechnology.

His current research interests cover the optimization of microbial fermentation processes, for example for the production of biosurfactants, as well as enzymatic processes for the modification of plant oils.

    • Microbial production of biosurfactant
    • Enzymatic modification of plant oil
    • Fermentation process modelling and scale-up
